Terms of Service

Last updated: [insert date]

Note: this is a general-purpose template, not legal advice. Before using this publicly, especially for a service that pairs strangers over live video, have it reviewed by a lawyer familiar with the laws in the places you plan to operate — requirements around minors, recording consent, and content moderation vary significantly by country and state.

1. What this service is

GroupCall connects you with other users at random for live video or text conversations, and lets you add people you meet as friends for future conversations. You choose your gender at entry and can optionally sign in with a Google account.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this service. By checking the age confirmation box at entry, you are representing that you meet this requirement. We do not independently verify age, and we reserve the right to terminate access for anyone we believe does not meet this requirement.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use this service to:

Violations may result in a temporary or permanent ban, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.

4. Reporting, moderation, and monitoring

You can report another user during a conversation. Accounts that receive multiple reports are automatically and temporarily blocked from matching with new people.

To enforce these Terms and keep the service safe, authorized moderators may review text chat content — including messages sent before they began reviewing a conversation — and, where technically available, live video from an ongoing conversation. This may happen in response to a report, or as part of general safety monitoring. By using the service, you consent to this kind of review.

5. Your account and data

If you sign in with Google, we store your account identifier, display name (which you can customize), and profile picture to support the friends feature. We approximate your country from your IP address to show a flag next to your name; we do not store your precise location. Anonymous (non-Google) use is also supported, in which case we do not retain your identity beyond the current session.

6. No warranty

This service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that matches, video connections, translations, or any other feature will always work correctly or be free of interruptions.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to content shared by other users, technical failures, or unauthorized access to your account.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
